Conceived of by a patient nearly 30 years ago, the Planetree model of delivering care is one that prioritizes patient comfort, dignity, empowerment and well-being.  ACH began its Planetree journey in 2002, and today is one of over 100 hospitals, long-term care facilities, and outpatient clinics that comprise the Planetree Membership Network.

â€œEvery day, in both her interactions with patients and fellow employees, Marcy exemplifies Planetree and patient-centered care,†said Wendy Tabellion, Planetree advisor and educator at ACH.  “It is only fitting that she be recognized with this prestigious national award.  In recognizing Marcy, Planetree and the hospital are also paying tribute to the dedication and compassion demonstrated by all our caregivers, day in and day out.â€

Todd has worked at ACH for the past five years. Before coming to the Volunteer Department, she held positions in the file room, the credit office and Colleague Relations.

“The Planetree concept is a natural – treat others as you would want to be treated or have your loved ones treated,†said Todd.  “It is exciting to know that even in the smallest of ways; we can and do make a difference for everyone who enters the doors of ACH.  And many times, it is the small things that make the biggest difference!†

“The Spirit of Planetree Award Ceremony is always a highlight of our Annual Conference,†said Frampton.  “At the heart of the Planetree model are the human interactions between patients and caregivers.  With the Spirit of Planetree Award, we celebrate individuals like Marcy who, in their compassion, empathy, and simple human kindness, are making what is often a troubling and anxiety-ridden experience more bearable.  That is most definitely an accomplishment worthy of recognition.â€

Todd was one of 52 recipients of the 2006 Spirit of Planetree Award.  Also recognized were eleven programs/initiatives implemented at Planetree institutions across the world that represent extraordinary achievement in each of Planetree's ten components of patient-centered care.

Alliance CommunityHospital, a non-profit hospital founded in 1901, is licensed for 204 beds including 78 nursing home/transitional care beds that are found in its
