Free Community Nutrition Seminar for Runners

March 27, 2014

All area runners are encouraged to attend a FREE community nutrition seminar for runners, sponsored by the Alliance Community Hospital Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine program.

“For a runner to meet their maximum potential, they must manage all aspects of their training. Running alone will not allow runners to run their fastest,” said Eric O'Brien PT, MS, OCS, Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Coordinator. “There are many variables to manage and one that is often overlooked and misunderstood is finding the proper nutrition plan to match the training regimen.”

The seminar will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2014, at 6:30PM at the Alliance Community Hospital Outpatient Therapy Center (1900 S. Union Avenue, Suite 101). Kelsey F. Scanlon, M.S., an instructor of exercise science at the University of Mount Union, will explain the benefits of proper running nutrition, with an emphasis on the foods to include in base training meals and which foods will provide enough fuel on race day.

Whether you run track, 5K’s or marathons, learning the proper nutrition for a running lifestyle is important for runners of all skill levels and ages.

“This seminar will give runners the information they need to help maximize their training and run their fastest times,” O’Brien said.
