Alliance Goes Red for Women’s Heart Health

February 12, 2014

In honor of American Heart Month, Alliance Community Hospital (ACH) and the American Heart Association (AHA) are collaborating to help Alliance go red for women’s heart health.

‘Alliance Goes Red: An Evening for Women’ is an evening designed to empower the community, especially women, with the knowledge and tools they need to make positive lifestyle changes to help reduce their risk of heart disease.

“We recognize that cardiovascular disease is a tremendous issue in our community,” said Dr. Debra Lehrer, Senior VP Planetree Leadership, who has been instrumental in the planning of this event. “ACH, along with the AHA, is proud to have three local physicians volunteer to participate in an evening of education to promote women's heart health.”

The panel of physicians will include: Amber Somerville, M.D., Obstetrics & Gynecology; John Prodafikas, M.D., Cardiology; and Ashraf Ahmed, M.D., Internal Medicine.

“I would encourage our community to come out and participate in the evening,” Lehrer said. “Bring your heart- related questions and help us raise community awareness.”

Light refreshments and giveaways will also be provided.

‘Alliance Goes Red: An Evening for Women’ is a free event that will take place on February 20th, from 6:00PM – 7:30PM at Alliance High School. Please RSVP by calling 330-596-7575 no later than Tuesday, February 18th.

“Alliance Community Hospital is excited to be part of getting the Go Red movement started in our community,” said Susan Lucas, Director of Public Relations/Foundation at ACH. “Creating awareness with an event such as this is the first step in making meaningful changes for the women in our lives.”
