Alliance Community Hospital to Celebrate National Nurses Week

Alliance---The Nursing Leadership Team at Alliance Community Hospital has planned a full week of awareness activities to commemorate National Nurses Week May 6-12.

The theme of this year’s nurses week is “A Culture of Safety – It Starts with You” and the activities of the week will emphasize all nurses do to create a safe and comfortable environment for their patients.

Nurses will be wearing different colored shirts or scrubs depending on the day of the week to emphasize a safety characteristic.  The rotating colors will begin with purple on Friday, May 6 to symbolize appropriate resources, followed by:  blue on Saturday for evidence-based practices in the learning environment; green on Sunday for nurse-patient trust; yellow on Monday for falls prevention; orange on Tuesday for transparency and accountability; and pink on Wednesday for infection prevention.

In addition to the symbolism, nurses will be attempting to give back to the community by leading a collection of non-perishable items to help the Alliance Food Pantry.

There are also a number of internal activities planned to emphasize the importance of safety. More information will be posted in the National Nurses Week display case in the main hallway of the hospital, and on the ACH website,
