ACH to Celebrate One-Year Anniversary of Move to New Facility

January 16, 2007

As Jan. 22 marks the one-year anniversary of the day that <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />AllianceCommunityHospital moved to its new, state-of-the-art facility, it is a time for hospital Colleagues to reflect on this past year, as well as look toward the future.

To commemorate this special occasion, the hospital will be closing its time capsule at this time, which is located in the main hallway on the first floor of the building, next to the Imaging Department.

The time capsule remain closed until 2056, the 50th anniversary of the inception of the new building, when it will be re-opened by future employees

“It has been exciting to see the variety of items our Colleagues have been able to collect,†said Marcy Todd, volunteer coordinator.  “We want to leave a legacy that our grand children and great-grand children will be proud of.†

Todd, along with Michele Quinn in the Volunteer Department, has been working with hospital departments on gathering items for the capsule.

A number of the items have already been collected, including pamphlets, manuals, forms and surgical equipment. A scroll signed by all Colleagues prior to the move to the new hospital will also be part of the collection.

A special dedication ceremony will take place for Colleagues prior to its closing.  The hospital chaplain, Rev. Joseph Peters, will be blessing the items to be placed in the capsule.

“Our Colleagues are why we are who we are,†said Todd.  “This is not only a way to honor our new facility, but also those who have contributed so much to it.â€

The items are currently on exhibit for Colleagues and visitors in the display cases in the main hallway on the first floor.
