For the second year, the department is giving handmade baby blankets to every baby born in the month.

“This is the second year we've done this,†Heather Welsh, RN, said. “The nurses came up with this idea last year and we wanted to give each December newborn something special since it's such a special time of year.â€

The nursing staff, along with the Alliance Walmart, donated the blanket materials, which the nurses then used to make the blankets. The ACH OB Department is anticipating around 40 births this month.

“We asked Walmart to donate this year because the materials are expensive, but it was definitely something we wanted to continue doing for December babies,†Welsh said.
