July 13, 2011

Deb Clemens OHA Worker Awards

(L to R): ACH Director of Educational Services Karen Campf, RN, BSN, CCRN, ACH Director of Critical Care Debbie Clemens, and ACH Vice-President of Nursing Amy Antonacci, RN, BSN represented ACH at the event in Columbus.

Alliance, Ohio- Alliance Community Hospital’s Debbie Clemens, RN, BSN, CCRN was one of 76 nominees statewide honored at the annual Albert E. Dyckes Health Care Worker of the Year recognition dinner in Columbus on June 14, 2011.

Since 1996, the “Albert E. Dyckes Health Care Worker of the Year Award” is given annually by the Ohio Hospital Association. The award goes to someone who demonstrates leadership, reflects the values and ideals of Ohio’s health care facilities, is an extraordinary caregiver who goes above and beyond the call of duty, gives back to the community and who has overcome odds to succeed.

As Director of Critical Care, Clemens oversees both the Progressive Care Unit and Intensive Care Unit. According to the OHA nomination, “her position demands a leader who meets and exceeds all of the criteria of a Heath Care Worker of the Year nominee. Debbie does this with ease and in fact, Debbie received the 2010 Planetree Caregiver of the Year because of her clinical expertise and tremendous compassion.”

Clemens has worked in health care for 33 years, serving as a vital member of Alliance Community Hospital for over nine years.  She comes from a long line of nurses; in fact her mother, sister, cousin and daughter are all in the field.

ACH Vice President of Nursing, Amy Antonacci, RN, BSN, said, “Debbie actually personifies our Planetree tenets of compassionate care giving.  Not only is she clinically excellent, but she shows extraordinary empathy and genuine kindness every day of the year. She’s a remarkable nurse and person.”

As quoted by Clemens’ nomination, which was submitted voluntarily and anonymously by a co-worker, “Debbie is not only outstanding professionally and personally, she is certainly one person I’d want at the bedside if heaven forbid it was one of my family members or friends –or me!- in the hospital.”

Alliance Community Hospital, a non-profit hospital that was founded in 1901, is licensed for 204 beds including 78 nursing home/transitional care beds. ACH is fully-accredited by The Joint Commission and offers a quality medical staff of more than 150 active and covering physicians.
