ACH Community Care Center ranked best in Stark County

September 5, 2012

The residents of Alliance Community Hospital's (ACH) Community Care Center (CCC) have known for a long time they reside at the best nursing home in Stark County, and now they have the data to prove it.

According to a 2011 resident satisfaction survey given to nursing home residents in Ohio by The Ohio Long-Term Care Consumer Guide, an organization that provides information about nursing homes and assisted living facilities, CCC residents are the happiest in the county when it comes to their facility, daily care and well-being.

"I believe our recent resident/patient satisfaction survey results reflect our dedication and desire to deliver the highest quality care to all our residents and patients," said Renee Bender, CRNAC, MSN, Community Care Center director of nursing. "At the Community Care Center, it is our passion and our goal to provide the best care possible to allow for an optimal healing environment."

Residents answered questions pertaining to: their facility, personal choice opportunities, activities, administration, direct care/nurse assistants, meals/dining, environment, laundry and therapy.

Virginia Sutton, 81, has been a resident at Community Care Center for more than a year. Like the other residents, she is very satisfied with her care. Sutton explained she decided to make CCC her home because it is a nice, safe and convenient place to live. "It feels like home here. We have a dining room, sitting room, garden and library," she said. "With the aides, nurses and hospital next door, I knew there would always be someone to take care of me."

Sutton, who spends her days working on 1,500-piece jigsaw puzzles or attending the many activities planned for the residents, couldn't speak highly enough of the staff. "Everyone knows us by name. The staff is friendly and respectful. When we need something, they are there with a smile and a helping hand. We are kept clean, fed and well taken care of."

While residents scored each category highly, survey results showed CCC residents were most satisfied with the facility's administration, therapy program and facility environment, as they ranked these categories with nearly perfect scores.

"This is an outstanding place. I can't think of another place that would be better than this one," Sutton said. "I would and do recommend Community Care Center to my friends, family members and anyone searching for an extended care facility."

The residents' overall satisfaction score of 93.5 percent is the highest in Stark County and well above the statewide average of 87.1 percent.

"I am very proud of the care the CCC team puts forth. Their complete focus on the whole individual is evident by these scores, including direct care, therapy and dining scores," said Eric Murray, service line administrator. "It is our privilege to take care of the members of our Alliance community and surrounding areas."

Community Care Center is a 68-bed, extended-care facility that provides a home-like atmosphere and a competent and caring staff to its patients and residents.
