Chelsea is the daughter of Dena Moore.  Chelsea has chosen Akron Institute where she will begin her studies as a medical assistant.

Elizabeth, the daughter of Robin and Paula Householder, will attend KSU and AkronUniversity as she pursues a degree as a registered nurse.

The scholarship was established in 1987 in honor of the late Dr. James Thomas, a retired anesthesiologist at ACH.  Dr. Thomas immediately began volunteering at ACH after his retirement.  The initial donation from Mrs. Thomas has been augmented by the Auxiliary each year through fund raising projects.

Scholarship recipients are selected by a committee representing the Auxiliary, health care professionals and the community.  Points are awarded for each applicant in the areas of financial need, hospital volunteer work, school and community involvement and general academic achievement.
