Wound Care

The ACH Wound Care & Hyperbaric Department is a multidisciplinary outpatient clinic treating non-healing wounds and ostomies and offering an approach to healing that includes hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) and biological skin equivalents.

Wound care refers to treatment of chronic or non-healing wounds that can be associated with infection of skin and bone, diabetes, radiation, arterial or venous disease and complicated post surgical sites. A chronic wound is classified as a wound that has little to no progress or worsens within a 30 day period.

Daniel Mitchell, M.D., F.A.C.S., is a general surgeon and the Medical Director of Wound Care at ACH. He has specialized training in hyperbaric oxygen, wound care and debridement. Podiatrist Thomas Groner, D.P.M also supports the wound care program. Physicians Dominick Catalano M.D., Karen Gade-Pulido M.D., Janice Spalding, M.D., and Julie Lavinder M.D. oversee patient care in hyperbarics. Dr. Gamal El-Mobasher has specialized training in hyperbaric oxygen, wound care and debridement. He is an internal medicine physician with surgical experience in Egypt.

In addition the skilled physician team, the ACH Wound Care staff consists of Program Director Melissa Loudon; Debra Clair, PhD, RN, CNS, WOCN, WCC, DWC Advanced Practice Nurse; nurses Rosemary McLaughlin RN, CWOCN Karen Walker-Albright RN WCC, Leslie Cox, LPN, WCC, CHT; Barbara Anderson LPN,  Megan Alati LPN, Toni Slaggy CMA and Office Coordinator Shawna Weber.

Alliance Community Hospital Wound Care has maintained an average of 32 days to heal in the past several years that is it has serviced the community as a specialty. *This is HALF the time that it takes other programs nationally!
