Christmas came early to Alliance Community Hospital as a contingent of the University of Mount Union chorale group visited ACH last week to serenade patients, staff members and visitors with traditional carols. The group sang to guests gathered in the Café, as well as to patients in the OB/Maternity, Community Care Center and Medical/Surgical areas.
ACH VP of Colleague Relations Connie Poulton, SPHR, organized the event. “We wanted to give the patients a nice, soothing way to end their day and an opportunity to be able to celebrate the season, at least in some small way, during their stay with us,” she said with a smile.
ACH is hoping to tap into the UMU singing talent pool to expand the hospital’s up-and-coming music therapy program.
“We’re looking into many potential components as we strategize a formal music therapy program and we’d certainly be honored to have UMU and perhaps some of the area’s high school choirs play a pivotal role in that effort,” Poulton said.
