Loved ones honored: Alliance Community Hospital Auxiliary hosts annual Memory Tree of Lights event
The Alliance Community Hospital Auxiliary held its annual Memory Tree of Lights ceremony Sunday in the ACH Caf. Once again the Auxiliary teamed up with Alliance Hospice to honor and memorialize loved ones at the start of the holiday season.
More than 200 attendees gathered for this special memorial program. Holiday music was provided by Diana Cullen. Guest speakers included Stan Jonas, ACH CEO; Sue Barrick, Hospice supervisor; the Rev. Josh Smith, Hospice chaplain; and Lisa Peloso, Auxiliary president.
The Auxiliary tree has been decorated with bulbs in gold and silver, each representing a donation in honor or memory of a loved one. Those names were read by Auxiliary members Eleanor Carver and Mary Lou Williams. The Hospice tree contains 266 purple bulbs representing patients who passed in Hospice care in 2016. Those names were recited by Hospice nurse Mary Bloss.
The trees will be on display in the ACH lobby until Jan. 1, after which bulbs purchased through the ACH Auxiliary can be picked up in the hospital gift shop and bulbs from the Hospice tree can be picked up at the Alliance Hospice office.
The ACH Auxiliary holds several fundraising programs throughout the year to benefit Alliance Community Hospital. In 2016, they were able to give more than $50,000 to the hospital for programs and services. For information on joining the Auxiliary, call the ACH gift shop at 330-596-7827.
