Community Invited to Participate in ACH Blood Drive
On Thursday, April 7th, the Alliance Community Hospital will host an American Red Cross blood drive at the hospital. The hours for the drive are from noon until 6p.m. in conference room 1-A.
“While it might seem strange to invite individuals to donate blood, this is an opportunity for our community to come together in a common cause – a cause that is critical to so many. The cost of donating a productive unit of blood is minimal – about an hour’s worth of time,” shares Michele Quinn, Volunteer Coordinator.
Donors must be at least 17 years of age, weigh no less than 110 pounds and be able to provide a photo ID or their Red Cross donor card. Donors are encouraged to drink additional fluids at least 24 hours prior to the drive. It is also very important to have eaten a meal before donating.
Once a donor is registered, they move to the history portion of the process and from that station, they move into the drawing room where it takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes to make the collection. Donors are then asked to stop at the canteen to begin the process of replenishing their body’s needs.
To schedule an appointment for the blood drive, donors can go online at www.givelife.org or by calling the volunteer office at the hospital, 330-596-7822 or 330-596-7821 and the staff will be happy to schedule an appointment.
