On Sunday, September 16, 2007, the Alliance Community Hospital Foundation will be hosting “An Afternoon in the Country,†a wine tasting event to support the Alliance Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
This event will take place at Masterpiétro Winery, Inc., located at <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />14558 Ellsworth Rd. in Berlin Center, Ohio, from 1 – 4 p.m.
Alliance Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice provides comfort, care and compassion for those who are terminally ill. The focus of this program is to maximize the quality of remaining life for the patient and family.
“The most important thing to remember is that the profits of this event benefit Hospice care. Hospice focuses on maintaining the patients' quality of life by relying on the combined knowledge and skill of an interdisciplinary team of specialized individuals. These individuals include physicians, nurses, home care aides, social workers, counselors, and volunteers,†reminded Sue Barrick, Hospice Supervisor.
Barrick continued, “Emotional and spiritual support is also offered to help patients and their families cope. This approach is one that reaches out professionally with compassion and a tender touch.â€
Tickets for this very special afternoon are reasonably priced at $16 each (if purchased in advance) or $18 on event day.
The desire of the event committee is to make this a casual day of relaxation and socialization, while increasing the community's awareness of the importance of Hospice. Rain or shine, the event will take place.
Each ticket holder will receive the following: a sampling of 4 wines from Mastropiétro Winery, Inc. (a Zinfandel, a Chambourcin, a Riesling, and Dolce Bianco), gourmet appetizers by “Culinary Creations†and musical entertainment featuring romantic Italian melodies by the “Tuscan Trio.†For those guests who are unfamiliar with wine, this is your opportunity to learn more as guests will also receive a complimentary wine tips booklet.
In addition to the food and wine that will be served throughout the afternoon, guests will have the opportunity to peruse the works of various local artists.
Major sponsors of the event include: Cassaday – Turkle Christian Funeral and Cremation Service at the Merlot level and Tom and Liz Shelt at the Cabernet level.
