Classes will be held every Thursday from 2-3 p.m. in conference room 1-B, located on the first floor of the hospital.
The program will be facilitated by Certified Respiratory Therapist Bobbie Retterer and Registered Respiratory Therapist John Pinatiello.
According to Pinatiello, the program was designed by the American Cancer Society to assist individuals wanted to end their addiction to nicotine.
“This program is for those who are really serious about quitting smoking,†he said.
Piantiello explained that the first class of the series assesses whether an individual is truly ready to quit or not.
“Participants are asked to list the pro and cons of quitting,†he said. “If the cons outweigh the pros, the individual may not be ready to complete the program.â€
Representatives from “Fresh Start†will have information available at the hospital's tent Wednesday, Friday and Saturday during Carnation Days in the Park. Those interested in the program, can also register at that time.
Classes will run consecutively every four weeks. Limit is 10 people per class. Registration is on a first come, first serve basis.
