Alliance Community Hospital offers volunteer opportunities
Alliance Community Hospital (ACH) will host its monthly "Ventures in Volunteering" orientation program for potential volunteers today in Conference Room 1-A, located inside the Cafe. The program will begin at 1 p.m. and end at approximately 4 p.m.
Each month a Ventures in Volunteering orientation program is held at the hospital to introduce interested individuals to the mechanics of hospital volunteering. For hospital volunteers, this orientation is a mandatory program that covers a variety of topics, including Planetree hospital concepts, patient confidentiality and the benefits associated with volunteering at ACH.
"Whether our volunteers are baking cookies, discharging patients, offering Soft Touch hand-rub treatments, assisting patrons in the gift shop and snack shop, or simply holding a patient's hand, they take their commitment very seriously and take great pride in the services they provide here," said Michele Quinn, coordinator of Volunteer Services.
Quinn described the ACH volunteers as a very determined and diversified group.
"They are more than willing to tackle a challenge and embrace an opportunity to make a positive difference in another's life," she said. "Our volunteers consistently go above and beyond when it comes to the services they provide."
There are more than 50 service areas at ACH. Areas include those that are service-oriented, clerical or patient-centered.
"We are receiving more requests from our staff for volunteers who are willing to spend time in patient care areas, and we try to tailor each volunteer's service to their skills and comfort level," said Quinn.
ACH volunteers serve hospital patients, visitors and colleagues in a number of ways, some of which include assisting with special projects, conducting pet therapy visits and providing acts of kindness.
"With so many service areas to choose from, we are confident we can provide each volunteer a position they will find both fulfilling and meaningful," said Quinn.
Call the volunteer department at 330-596-7822 or 330-596-7821 with questions or to make reservations, since reservations for the orientation session are required.
