This year, 175 guests bid on over 100 live and silent auction items. Over $90,000 was raised overall from the event, all in benefit of <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />AllianceCommunityHospital.
Featured items included vacation packages to Naples, Fla., New York City and California with tickets to see the Tonight Show with Jay Leno; several pieces of fine jewelry; artwork, sight-seeing flight packages; sporting event tickets and golf packages. The items were donated by area businesses, physicians and friends of the Foundation.
The evening began with guests enjoying drinks and hors d'oeuvres as they mingled and mused over silent auction items. A champagne toast preceded the gourmet dinner of stuffed filet mignon, a vegetable medley, twice-baked red skin potato, southern belle salad and cheesecake delight for dessert.
The theme for the event, “When You Imagine,†was fitting for the live entertainment that evening, provided by internationally-renowned artist Professor Albert Bright. Bright kept a captive audience with his “artistry to music.†As part of his performance, he created an abstract piece of artwork while accompanied by the Jesse Dandy Jazz Ensemble. The finished piece was then put up for bid during the live auction.
Heavy bidding for live auction items took place during dinner and following Bright's performance.
Music and dancing followed the live bidding, provided by Midnight Rider.
The mother-daughter team of Rose Bautista and Dr. Josephine Palutsis served as co-chairs for the event. Russell (Rusty) Kiko was the auctioneer that evening.
The grand benefactors for the 16th Annual Charity Ball and Auction were the Joseph A. Jeffries Company, Fidelity Properties and Fidelity National Collections and E. Ann McDaniel.
