ACH to Hold Danielle Edwards Blood Drive
The road to recovery continues for 7-year old Danielle Edwards of <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Louisville. She is the daughter of Kurt and Tracy Edwards. In September of 2007, Danielle was diagnosed with Pre-B Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Since then she has undergone a strict regiment of treatment which has included countless units of blood and plasma.

As Danielle continues her maintenance chemotherapy program, the need for these products continues – and not only for Danielle, but for countless other children who are also battling many types of cancer. We are their only hope of survival! Only 5% of our population donates regularly.
According to Tracy, there is nothing more heart wrenching than watching your child suffer as a search for the right type of blood or plasma takes place. “I wish that no other mother has to endure the agony of that wait, and that can only happen if individuals make the commitment to donate blood on a regular basis.â€
Thursday, the American Red Cross and AllianceCommunityHospital are hosting a blood drive in honor of Danielle, and others like her. The hours for the drive are 12 noon until 6 p.m. in conference room 1-A of the hospital.
Appointments are suggested for donors in order to decrease the wait time. These can be scheduled by contacting the volunteer department at ACH, 330-596-7822, or donors can establish their own profile at www.givelife.org.
Donors must be no less than 17 years of age, weigh at least 110 pounds and be able to provide a photo ID or have their donor card with them.
Several drawings will be held, and all donors during August will be entered in a drawing sponsored by the American Red Cross for a $1,000 grocery card.
Questions regarding this drive can be addressed to the Volunteer Department of the hospital.
