ACH Opens Anticoagulation Clinic
A medical office on the second floor of the Alliance Community Hospital’s Professional Office Building is the new home of ACH’s Anticoagulation Clinic.
A ribbon cutting ceremony was held in Suite #250 of the POB this week, as hospital employees and patients looked on with pride.
“We’re so pleased that we outgrew our initial location inside the hospital in such a short time,” said Paul Witkowski, Pharm D, who is the Director of Pharmacy and the Anticoagulation Clinic for ACH.
Witkowski explained that the hospital identified a need to offer medicine supervision and maintenance to many area residents who take prescription blood thinners every day for one medical reason or another. ACH opened a clinic providing that service late last year.
“Close monitoring of this medicine is a very serious and delicate balance. We are helping area physicians through the clinic by working in tandem with them to offer strict supervision of their patients’ attention to their meds. This includes the dietary and activity cautions or restrictions they need to be mindful of as part of their prescription regimen,” he said.
Senior Vice President of Operations and Finance Dale Wells, MBA, CHCE, said the hospital is looking into the possible expansion of this type of service for the future.
“We are always trying to find the next right answer in terms of meeting the medical needs of our community,” he said.
Witkowski said the clinic has already helped dozens of area residents to improve their overall health through better maintenance of their daily prescription blood thinners.
“Our quality scores are fantastic,” said Witkowski, who noted that the clinic is the first and only one of its kind in the area.
The new anticoagulation clinic is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., or by special appointment. For more information, please call 330-596-7970.
