The volunteer department will host its October “Ventures in Volunteering†orientation program for incoming volunteers on Tuesday, October 6th in the 1-A conference room. The program will begin at 4:00 p.m. and last until approximately 7:30 p.m. This orientation is structured to answer the many questions potential volunteers may have, as well as provide them with a broad understanding of the program.
“We have seen a surge in the number of individuals who are seeking volunteer opportunities. With the large number of service areas we have in our program, we are able to combine an individual's talents and skills with a volunteer service area that makes a great marriage!†shares Marcy Todd, Volunteer Coordinator at the hospital.
“We feel there are several reasons for the influx of potential volunteers – the economy, retiring baby-boomers, students who are required to participate in service projects and community residents who have lost their job.â€
“Whatever the reason, we are very happy to see more and more volunteers entering our ranks. Through our mandatory “Ventures in Volunteering†orientation, we are able to provide interested individuals with all of the necessary information about our program and our Planetree concept of service. This in-depth overview provides them with the necessary information they need to make an educated decision as to whether volunteering at ACH is right for them or not.â€
Reservations are required for the orientation and can be made by contacting the volunteer department at 330-596-7822 or 330-596-7821. Interested persons must be at least 16 years of age to volunteer.
