ACH Nurse Earns Major Award Nominations
She may not be the Ohio Hospital Association's (OHA) official “Healthcare Worker of the Year,†but she has certainly earned that honor in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Alliance.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
That's the general consensus at Alliance Community Hospital (ACH) about Kelly Buehler, RN, who was a nominee for the Albert E. Dyckes Healthcare Worker of the Year award.
Buehler was one of 75 healthcare workers being considered for the accolade, which was presented at the OHA's annual meeting in Columbus earlier this week.
“To her colleagues and, more importantly, to her patients, Kelly is certainly worthy of special recognition and praise,†said Kerry Swanson RN, CNA, BC and Chief Operating Officer of ACH.
“She personifies our philosophy of patient-centered care; she's actually the embodiment of the PLANETREE practice of caring for patients in body, mind and spirit,†Swanson said.
This explains why Buehler was also a finalist for the national “Spirit of Planetree†awards in 2007.
“Kelly is a standout in the Cardiac Rehab program not only because of her clinical proficiency but also due to her tremendous capacity for compassion,†said Billie Jo Hatton, RN, BSN and Coordinator of Cardio-Pulmonary Services at ACH.
“Not once has she had a patient whom she could not immediately identify by both name and vital statistics,†she said.
An employee of ACH for more than 23 years, Buehler is a proud member of the team of professionals who help patients recuperate after major cardiac and/or pulmonary procedures or treatments.
“She's known on the floor, in the department and throughout the hospital for her attention to detail. Kelly is keenly aware of even the slightest changes in the condition of her patients,†said Hatton.
“We're truly fortunate to have such a dedicated and empathetic nurse on our team. She is a caregiver in the truest sense,†she said.
Buehler makes her home in Alliance with her children Brian, Elizabeth and Aaron.
