Fifteen four-man teams teed off under perfect skies at Noon on the links of the Alliance Country Club for the 10th Annual Alliance Community Hospital Charity Golf Classic. As always, all event proceeds will benefit the several area non-profit organizations dubbed “goodwill neighbor designees†which consist of the Alliance Family YMCA, the <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />AllianceNeighborhoodCenter and the Stark County Interagency Council on Homelessness. Each will benefit equally from any profits raised by the event.
Keynote speaker Dr. David Katz spoke about a program he is establishing in association with the Alliance Area Family YMCA and MountUnionCollege benefitting children's wellness. The goal of the program is to target area kids who may be at risk for health challenges such as childhood obesity or Type Two diabetes.
Dr. Katz informed the audience that children need to be active and make healthy choices, but that this can only be accomplished through a collective effort. “It is all of our responsibility to ensure that our children grow up healthy,†said Dr. Katz, who is a local pediatrician.
ACH CEO Stan Jonas, FACHE, thanked event-goers for their support during these hard economic times. He presented trophies to the overall champion team of the day, the law firm of Krugliak, Wilkins, Griffiths & Dougherty Co., Inc. (Randy Hunt, Matt Hunt, Chris Hunt & Ann Hunt). Their score was 54. Smaller prizes were given to other teams for pin and proximity shots and putting prowess.
Along with ACH, the event's title sponsors were: the AllianceNeighborhoodCenter, anonymous donors in support of the Alliance Family YMCA and of the Stark County Interagency Council on Homelessness, Fidelity National Collections, and Aultman Health Foundation.
