ACH blood drive set for Thursday
Alliance Community Hospital will host an American Red Cross blood drive at the hospital from 12:30 p.m. until 6 p.m. Thursday at the hospital in conference room 1-A.
“As we celebrate the community of Alliance during Carnation Days, what a fitting opportunity for our community to come together for a common cause,” said Michele Quinn, Coordinator of Volunteer Services at ACH. “One productive unit of blood has the potential of saving three lives.”
Donors must be at least 17 years of age (16 years old with parental consent), weigh no less than 110 pounds and be in generally good health. A photo ID or their Red Cross donor card is required at registration. Donors are encouraged to drink additional fluids at least 24 hours prior to the drive. It is also very important to have eaten a meal before donating.
A donor is registered, moves to the history portion of the process and then proceed into the drawing room where it takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes to make the collection. Donors then stop at the canteen to begin the process of replenishing their body’s needs.
To schedule an appointment for the blood drive, donors can go online at www.redcrossblood.org or by calling the volunteer office at the hospital, 330-596-7822 or 330-596-7821 and the staff will be happy to schedule an appointment.
