ACH Auxiliary Provides Equipment
Each year the <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />AllianceCommunityHospital invites all hospital departments to submit requests for their annual “wish listâ€. This is simply a method used to determine what kinds of equipment and program needs there are within the facility.

This year, the Auxiliary was pleased to be able to supply over $50,000 worth of equipment and service to the patients, visitors and staff at the hospital. This includes:
Notebooks for patient information (Educational Services - $460), Audio-visual Modules (Educational Services - $400), Glide scope (Emergency Department - $14,000), WII bundle/cart (Therapy Services - $840), CD Players (Surgical Unit - $400), Screening chairs/mats (Laboratory - $4,000), Rotation Module (Intensive Care Unit - $8,000), Pulse Oximeter and Blood Pressure Monitor (CommunityCareCenter - $1,100). Also approved was $17,500 to be used toward the purchase of a Second Look 300 Viewer for the digital Mammography unit.
In addition to the special purchases for the year, the Auxiliary also pays the salary of the shuttle vehicle used for the parking lot transport of patients and visitors (Protective Services – approximately $16,000) and it also awarded three $1,500 scholarships to area high school graduates who will be entering the medical field.
“We are happy to be able to support the needs of ACH in an effort to continue to offer the quality care our patients deserve. Being a Planetree facility, we are very much aware of the importance of having the most up-to-date equipment available so that we can meet the needs of our community. And sometimes that means looking “outside of the box†as we reach out in directions that are above the norm,†shares Auxiliary President Charlotte Furbee.
The principles on which the Auxiliary was formed include promoting, advancing and improving the welfare of the AllianceCommunityHospital. This is to be accomplished by interpreting the hospital to the public, rendering services to ACH and its patients, raising funds for hospital purposes and awarding scholarships.
“These principles were proclaimed over eight decades ago. Through our many fundraisers, proceeds from the ACH Gift Shop and Eatery Snack Shop and member's dues, we are able to uphold and enhance the principles.â€
“We invite and encourage community members to become a part of an organization that has withstood the test of time. We are committed to AllianceCommunityHospital and all that it embraces,†Furbee continues. “We certainly welcome new members. We also welcome ideas and suggestions as we work diligently to fulfill the needs for which the organization was established.â€
Dues for the organization are $5 a year. New members will receive a $5 gift certificate to be used in the Gift Shop or the Eatery Snack Shop.
