ACH Auxiliary Honors Three Scholarship Recipients
During a recent luncheon, the members of the Alliance Community Hospital Auxiliary honored three area graduates. These graduates each received a $1,500 scholarship as they prepare to enter post-secondary schooling for a career in the medical field.

Honorees included Karen Steiger from <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />WestBranchHigh School, Chelsea Moore, a graduate of AllianceHigh School, and Elizabeth Householder from SebringHigh School.
Karen is the daughter of Bart and Joyce Steiger of Alliance. Karen will attend CapitalUniversity in the fall as she fulfills her dream of becoming a registered nurse.
Chelsea is the daughter of Dena Moore. Chelsea has chosen Akron Institute where she will begin her studies as a medical assistant.
Elizabeth, the daughter of Robin and Paula Householder, will attend KSU and AkronUniversity as she pursues a degree as a registered nurse.
The scholarship was established in 1987 in honor of the late Dr. James Thomas, a retired anesthesiologist at ACH. Dr. Thomas immediately began volunteering at ACH after his retirement. The initial donation from Mrs. Thomas has been augmented by the Auxiliary each year through fund raising projects.
Scholarship recipients are selected by a committee representing the Auxiliary, health care professionals and the community. Points are awarded for each applicant in the areas of financial need, hospital volunteer work, school and community involvement and general academic achievement.
