In its continuous effort to improve the patient experience, Alliance Community Hospital has partnered with the Get Well Network to help fulfill its mission of providing innovative services to treat illness and disease.
The Get Well Network is a system that creates an in-room experience that turns standard television sets into a multi-media experience that includes entertainment, information, education and clinical applications to enhance the healing and coping process for patients an their providers.
The system promotes improving personal health and wellness by allowing hospital patients access to information and entertainment, along with a connection to friends and family outside the hospital.
Through GWN, patients can learn about their condition, collaborate with caregivers, secure helpful services, while also enjoying entertainment resources- all from their hospital bed.
Patients can navigate through the network using a hand-held controller or wireless keyboard. They have they option of watching television, listening to the radio, playing video games or researching medical conditions. They can also send e-mails, browse the Internet and watch movies.
Patient satisfactory surveys can also be completed through the network.
Access to the system is free; however there is an additional charge for e-mail, Internet and the movie channel. These premium services can be purchased by credit card or a gift card.
Gift cards are available in the hospital’s gift shop or through the operator, if the gift shop is closed. The cost is $10 for a 24-hour period for all three services.
