| Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is one of the safest, most comfortable imaging techniques available. It combines a powerful magnet with an advanced computer system and radio waves to produce accurate, detailed pictures of organs and tissues in order to diagnose a variety of medical conditions.

Alliance Community Hospital is the only area hospital that provides a short bore, open-ended MRI machine to their patients. The new, state-of-the-art piece of equipment is able to accommodate different types of patients and their needs, helping to ease any fears they may have about the exam. The technologists in the department create a comforting environment by providing music to listen to and constantly communicating with the patient throughout the entire procedure.
Alliance Community Hospital offers a short bore, open-ended High-field MRI. The High-field MRI at Alliance Community Hospital has advanced technology that produces the highest quality image in the shortest time. This system allows for the most accurate and timely diagnosis to be made.
The MRI system we use was designed with patient comfort in mind. It's a quiet scanner with the largest opening available on a high field style magnet. It is also considered a short bore MRI, so less of the patient’s body has to be inside the magnet. This gives us the added ability to accommodate large and claustrophobic patients who can not be scanned in other systems. The weight limit with our scanner is 440 lbs.
