Winter Blahs Replaced by Volunteering Highs

Now is the perfect time to look at new opportunities.  The time to look past the winter blahs and look for a new challenge.  And volunteering at Alliance Community Hospital might just be one of those special challenges!

It has been well documented that when an individual focuses their attention on others, there is a definite and positive reaction both physically and mentally to the individual.

During the winter season, it is easy to become depressed.  Volunteering is an excellent outlet that benefits both the volunteer and those individual’s lives he/she touches.

“We have such a large number of service areas at ACH, we are able to place volunteers in an area that they will find both fulfilling and enjoyable.  We work directly with each individual’s schedule, and then place them according to the times that work best for them,” explains Marcy Todd, volunteer coordinator.

With over 50 service areas, the variety of volunteering experiences is outstanding.  For general purposes, these areas are divided into clerical, patient-centered and service.

“In order to better prepare our volunteers, we host a monthly orientation session that provides all of the information needed to make a determination of whether or not this will be a good opportunity for them.  We also spend part of the session discussing the Planetree concept that sets ACH apart from other medical facilities.”

On Tuesday, March 2nd, the monthly “Ventures into Volunteering” will be held in conference room 1-A of the hospital from 1:00 p.m. until approximately 4:30 p.m.  Anyone interested in attending is invited to attend.  Reservations are requested in order to plan appropriately and can be made by calling the hospital’s volunteering department at 330-596-7822.
