| ACH Hosting Monthly Blood Drive
|
| With the onset of summer, the number of potential blood donors takes a dramatic dip. This is a historical fact. However, the flip side of that is the number of patients requiring blood and blood products continues to grow.
As a vital support mechanism for those patients, the monthly ARC/ACH blood drives play a big role is balancing and maintaining available units to those in need. It’s yet another way to support our community.
Thursday, the ACH blood drive will be held from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. in conference room 1-A of the hospital. All eligible donors are asked to schedule an appointment for this drive in order to help “head off” a severe shortage down the road.
Donors must be at least 17 years of age (unless 16 with a signed consent form from a parent/guardian), weigh no less that 110 pounds and be in general good health. A photo ID or donor card must be presented at the time of the donation.
“We have been very successful hosting these community drives, and that says a lot for the individuals who live and work in our community,” shares Paula Lee, blood drive committee member. “What better way to help your neighbor than to take an hour to donate a productive unit of blood?”
All donors will receive a special aluminum water bottle, as well as a meal ticket for the ACH Café and a coupon for area McDonald’s.
Appointments can be scheduled by calling the volunteer office at the hospital, 330-596-7822 or 330-596-7821. Donors may also go online to www.givelife.org to establish their own profile and appointment.
